Guest guest
I had mentioned in another post about my daughters vegetarian friends (meaning " we don't eat meat " ) but I don't think they get a lot of guidance from home about getting the right foods since they're the only ones in the family eating that way. (Also, we're not totally veg, but working into it slowly by incorporating more vegetarian meals each week.) She's going to have a friend over this weekend and I said we'd experiment with recipes. I asked her to find out if there are any allergies or intense dislikes (not necessarily foods they've never been introduced to, i.e. mushrooms). One dish my daughter loves is quorn with pasta, broccoli, mushrooms, garlic, onions, olive oil, so that's on the list. I've thought of bean burgers, one of the meatless loaves (or sloppy joes made of lentils), maybe stir fry with tofu (plain or I have some baked for a firmer texture). They often just eat everything but the " meat " portion of their family meals, so I'm looking for ideas to get them eating enough nutrients and protein (they are still growing and developing). Any suggestions geared towards teens and dishes that hopefully appeal to them and expand their food horizons would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Guest guest
What about showing them an easy burrito with canned beans, lettuce, and salsa. That is something most teens can throw together. Or, you may even want to provide them with a list of foods that " hide " animal ingredients. This is such a great learning opportunity for the teens and you. You are now one of the " cool " moms and your daughter will hopefully remember this nice experience for a long time Cassie --- On Tue, 3/10/09, < wrote: < Introducing Teens to Veggie Meals Tuesday, March 10, 2009, 10:49 AM I had mentioned in another post about my daughters vegetarian friends (meaning " we don't eat meat " ) but I don't think they get a lot of guidance from home about getting the right foods since they're the only ones in the family eating that way.
