Kathleen I know many upper class who smoke and you have no idea how many of the

resident doctors at UCLA smoke and many have a drinking problem.  More poor

smoke?  I don't believe that for a minute.  That's like saying everyone with a

tattoo is a gang member or a criminal, in reality  you will find most criminals

and gang members in jail do have a tattoo or more. Smokers are smokers whether

rich or poor, it's an addiction and it has nothing to do with the wealth of a

person.

The reality is that smokers cost insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and

other government agencies a lot of money so just recouping the cost of medical

care from smokers seems reasonable to me.

However, as I have said before, the cost tends to be laid on the backs of the

poor who continue to be the largest numbers of smokers. They were targeted by

the cigarette companies in inner cities. Now-a-days, very few middle class and

upper middle class people smoke.

That is so wrong. It doesn't make people stop either.
