Pour a little oil around the edges and wiggle it, try to move it side to side,

clockwise. This has worked for me many times.

Let me know if it works.

Good luck

mixing bowl stuck inside pan

I have a very frustrating problem -- for several months, I have had a mixing

bowl stuck inside of a large stock pot. It fits perfectly and I can't get

the darn thing out! I don't care about the mixing bowl, but the stock pot is

pretty nice and I'd like to be able to use it. I've tried sitting the whole

thing in hot water and filling the mixing bowl with cold water (theory is

that the hot water will expand the pot and cold water will contract the

mixing bowl) but that didn't work. Any ideas?

Thanks

Is it a glass mixing bowl inside a metal stockpot?

Have you tried putting cooking oil down the insides of the stock

pot while wedging a thin bladed knife between the outside

sides of the bowl and the inside walls of the stock pot so oil would

go between the two pieces? Or

spraying the same area with WD-40 and letting it sit upside-down

on a towel?

Audrey,

If none of these other ideas work - and I would try them first - how about

taking a hammer and smashing the mixing bowl?

It is a metal mixing bowl stuck inside a metal stock pot. :( I see lots of

good ideas, though -- I'll mess with it when I get home this evening and let

you all know how it turns out. Thanks!

Since they are both metal, try putting both of them in the freezer for several

days. When you take them out, put the pan in boiing water so that it expands

quickly. You have to use extremes, and with metal pieces you don't have to

worry about breakage.

Try filling the pot with very hot water and about a cup of some cheap cooking

oil and about one teaspoon of diswhashing detergent.

The partially emulsified oil may allow the bowl to slide out when it is tipped

over.

That worked with some pots I had stuck together. Good Luck.
