Guest guest
Ande, I'm so happy your daughter's party was such a success and so much fun and enjoyment for everyone. I'm thrilled that the " vegetarian food-only " notation on the invitations was honored by all the guests. That says a LOT for their regard for you and your family! It's just wonderful that the people who came (even the " picky " teen-agers) also ENJOYED the interesting vegetarian foods on your buffet table! They may not all " turn " into full-out vegetarians, but I bet that trying one or two " no-meat " meals a week will be a great change and learning adventure for many of those who try it and--who knows? My DH and I are not vegetarians, but we " started out " with that same philosophy of trying a few meals a week with vegetarian foods, and it seems to gradually grow on us. Yesterday, the two of us drove across the state to attend a graduation party of the 2 sons of a dear friend of mine. I pretty much ate what was " there " , so did my DH, but later, on the way home, DH surprised me and said, " I just gotta stop somewhere and get a BEAN burrito--I need something SUBSTANTIAL! " I reminded DH gently that he was saying the VEGETARIAN foods would be more " substantial " than what we'd been offered at my friend's house. He replied, " I hadn't thought of it THAT way, but, I guess you're right! " I, unfortunately, had just eaten a buncha " stuff " and could not imagine even a bean burrito in addition--if he'd said while we were at the friends' that he was planning to stop somewhere on the way home, I might have forgone the various foods there to wait also for the " substantial " (vegetarian) victuals! It just goes to show--even for we who are not " sworn vegetarians " , it " grows " on one--the food is good and satisfying and one begins to think, " This is WAY better than...that 'other' food! " And, as my DH observed, it's more " substantial " ! My congratulations and best wishes to your daughter for her achievement! I'm so glad to hear of the great success of her celebratory party, too! Blessings and peace! --Laura B., in Illinois Thanks Again! Posted by: " andefrayser " My daughter's graduation party was Saturday, and it was fantastic! Well over 100 guest came (we stopped counting at 140) bearing gifts, love, and the most amazing variety of VEGETARIAN meals that I have ever seen. ... There was not one meat dish in the bunch! It was very good to hear people's reaction to the food and to see young and old alike enjoying their Veggie Day. People were stuffed and happy. So many parents stated that their kids NEVER eat vegetables and these were the same kids that were loading their plates with food and coming back for more. One girl told me if her Mom's vegetables tasted like these she would eat them. Many families have decided to adopt a few veggie days a week- her family being one of them. I told them about the group and shared some of our favorite recipes with them.
