Do you put them cut side down against the cookie sheet or up?

Re: Wonderful Yule Dinner

 

 

We cut an X on the flat side with a sharp knife down to the meat. We then

put them on a jelly roll sheet with olive oil on it and bake at 350 until

the X curls back. Then cool some, peel from the X, salt if you desire, and

eat.

ok, thanks. I think I'll go by there today and see if they still have some.

That song, " chestnuts roasting on an open fire " , just makes them so sooooo

delishious!

I learned at Thanksgiving that they are easy to peel when they are warm & a pain

in the ass once they have cooled so enjoy them hot!  Or if you need them for a

recipe, peel them before they cool!

The X curls very strongly, so if it were down, it would lift the chestnut

off the sheet you are cooking it on.
