Guest guest
Lima beans kind of have a mealy texture, I think that's why some people don't like them. They don't bother me. Now, to ME, broccoli tastes awful -- so bitter! Audrey S.
Guest guest
Donna, We indeed are Kindred Spirits. I love mashed potatoes w/everything. A favorite is adding cooked carrots and turnips for a wonderful Veggie Mash. Sometimes I fix a gravy the old fashioned way with browned flour in butter and add the liquid from the boiled veggies. Of course my favorite seasoning for the gravy is Basil . Then just to be *fancy* (smile) I garnish with fresh Parsley that I grow year round. When I use the word " fancy " it is a joke because I was raised on " plain ole country food " as mama says, and there was no such thing as a *garnish*. My mother says that she never used herbs or spices when cooking. Our meals came from a can or fresh caught. Now you know why I am a Vegetarian. LOL By the way my Parsley,Mesclun,Mustard, and other herbs are coming along beautifully. I won't brag about the *M* herb because I know how you feel about that one. May your day be filled with sunshine, happiness and good health Deanna in Colorado also at recycled_gardens ********************************************************************** Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: Being Swedish, I grew up on rutabagas and turnips. Have you tried them diced into soups or mashed into mashed potatoes?
