Guest guest
I've forgotten who it was that I was chatting with about wanting to try the chickpea cutlet recipe from Veganomicon, but I finally tried the recipe today and, wow, is it ever good!! Chewy, super tasty, and low fuss--a total keeper!! Yum! My only complaint is the uncooked cutlets look, well, very meaty to me, but I'm colorblind and there wasn't anyone around to give me a second opinion, so that may just be me. Still, definitely worth the moment of iwww for all the yummyness! (I think the recipe is in the file, but here's a link to a copy, just in case http://www.chow.com/recipes/11364 ) Peace, Mo
Guest guest
greed! I love them too. I think even carnivores could (learn to) love them, too. Love Veganomicon.
Guest guest
Thanks for this link and review, Mo. I'm not sure that I could face making them if they look meaty, LOL! Do they taste meaty as well? I see they contain vital wheat gluten. That is not something that is readily available over here - even in my local whole food store they looked at me as if I was mad when I inquired about it so I would have to order it over the internet. What else would you use it for? I don't want to order something that is only used in one recipe. Guest guest
Aren't they the best?? This is DH's all time favorite supper. Sometimes I make not nuggets out of them too. Excellent any way you fix 'em. Cyndy
Guest guest
I am glad you posted this review. I've been wondering about trying vital wheat gluten for something other than in my breads and think I'll try this tomorrow for lunch. Worst case scenario, the animals here will eat anything that doesn't eat them first. They will even gnaw on discarded cantelope and watermelon rinds. I like that you can do it in the oven or on top of the stove because my oven element just went Fzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt. Literally.
