Guest guest
Jains generally eat dairy products, but no other non-veg. They also avoid onions and garlic and may also not eat any root vegetables (because an insect might be killed when the vegetable is pulled up.) Guest guest
yes they dont eat any kind of root veggies, u can make many items by substituting potatoes with banana, thats what they generally do, they use banana in place of potato. , " Kulkarni, Beth " <bethkulkarni wrote: > > Jains generally eat dairy products, but no other non-veg. Guest guest
There is no way a banana replaces a potato in my eyes. Give me a bowl of mashed bananas and mushrrom gravy. Guest guest
It's almost lunchtime here..... and you just made me VERY hungry! I might have to bake a potato, not sure what I'll put on it... salsa & sour cream? Hollandaise? I might freeze the bananas I have... I like them frozen with chocolate syrup on them... maybe a little coconut flakes... some sprinkles and non-dairy whipped cream... see what you did, I'm starving now! -mouse thelilacflower Tuesday, August 18, 2009 10:55 AM Vegetarian Group Re: Re:Jain - ism There is no way a banana replaces a potato in my eyes. Possibly they are refering to the plantains, or vegetable version of bananas. I liked mine fried and served with salsa....pretty good!
