Guest guest
How can they expect to gain support when they offend people like that. I am NO LONGER overweight but I still find it offensive.
Guest guest
I have never been overweight, and I find the billboard offensive and disrespectful myself. Not very tactful is it? I am NO LONGER overweight but I still find it offensive. >
Guest guest
Believe me. I am battling about 20 pounds of baby weight. It definitely isn't a weight loss diet, and PETA need to have some respect if they expect any in return. Alia
Guest guest
It's awful, I think they could have found a much nicer way to conveying that message w/o the comparison to a whale! mouse
Guest guest
While I know being fat has its health risks, the billboard that PETA did, actually could hurt fat people more than help them. Remember the bill board is in Florida where people flock to the beach. Consider how a group of young, less than civil fit young people, seeing the bill board and then fat people on the beach will act. And where is the PETA billboard showing the anorexia woman? And what does she have to do with PETA? Sometimes I think people who want to help, forget to think outside the box and ask themselves IF there is a chance that harm not help could occur. ~Beth~
Guest guest
That's pretty awful. As a rather " whale-ish " person myself, it's also very irratating. True, my eating habits were not the best because of my hectic lifestyle - long commute, college, kids - lots of drive-thrus, vending machines, etc - BUT the biggest reason for my weight gain? Serious problems with my feet for 2+ years that made standing/walking/exercise excruciatinigly painful and impossible, followed by nearly a year of recovery from knee surgery due to motorcylce accident. Perfect storm for weight gain, lol. Not everyone who is fat is fat because they are lazy, eat poorly, or don't care about health. Health problems (and some medications!) can CAUSE weight gain, no matter what. So the whole judgmental thing really tiks me off. *stepping off soapbox* Send a deployed soldiers some Love From Home! www.OperationLoveFromHome.org Be a Hero's Hero! Guest guest
I DO NOT support PETA just because of things of this nature. Remember we are all beautiful and we come in all colors, shapes and sizes. Maybe I should tell them my anorexic friend keeps her horrid shape by eating, when she does eat, tuna from the can, shredded chicken breasts and boiled egg whites. Think they might recommend that diet? I think not! Shame on them and I hope they are bombarded with negative mail for doing it. Donna I've been smiling lately, dreaming about the world as one. And I believe it could be someday, it's going to come. Cat Stevens - Peace Train __
Guest guest
As far as I'm concerned, the only thing PETA is good for (occasionally) is their caringconsumer.org website. Audrey S. Guest guest
I personally hate PETA with a passion. They are pompous @$$e$. I was just talking to my mom and daughter about Nia Long's ad for PETA. I know their campaign is " I'd rather go naked " , but hers is over the top with her legs wrapped around a subway pool. It's tacky and in very poor taste. Besides, I've been a vegetarian for 18 years, and I am overweight. They are sending a message to girls to hate their bodies. They are sexist pigs.
