hey faith,

i'm over in england!

i do know one vegan group but they are about 40 minutes from where i live! :( i'm trying to find a vegan group in my area because i heard there was one.

i don't know if you have heard of 'one world' camp. it's a camp that lasts for about a week (but you can go daily) and they hold many activities such as yoga and arts, are very ethical and do mainly vegan food. i'm going there this summer so that should be fun! :)

Hi Betty,My husband and I were vegetarian for a long time because we didn'twant animals to suffer for our food. We had many justifications aboutdairy and eggs, we'd buy cage free etc. At the time, I was at an Agschool. When I had to go on the first class trip to a dairy, Iimmediately decided to go vegan. Don't feel too bad about the plants. They don't have a centralnervous system, and, because they cannot move, it doesn't make muchsense from an evolutionary stand point for them to feel pain. Besides, unless you've worked out photosynthesis for humans, I don'tthink you have much choice in the matter. ;)Where are you located? Are there vegan or vegetarian groups in yourarea? Those can be very fun, especially if you don't know manyvegetarians/ vegans.I'm 20 days away from moving to central Illinois from Grand Cayman.~Faith-- In @gro ups.com, Elizabeth Harris <vegan_betty@ ...>wrote:>> hello,> Â > i'm betty and i am a vegan. i've joined this group because i'd loveto talk to other people who are vegan...:)> Â > my family aren't vegan. i chose to be a vegan myself and have beenfor 2 years (and vegetarian for 3 years before that!). i have chosenthis lifestyle because of my morals on how animals should betreated..... ...no living thing should go through so much pain for useto eat.....i don't even like eating plant life really!> Â > did any of you choose to be vegan'out of the blue' or were youbrought up like it???> Â > betty x> > > ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _> Not happy with your email address?.> Get the one you

Hello again,

That sounds lovely. We have never attended a large vegan or

vegetarian gathering, but we'd love to go to one some time. This

summer is booked up for us. I'm finishing neurology at one vet

school, the moving, and a week later starting classes at another vet

school. It will be a crazy summer.

Have you heard of the vegetarian cruise? I thought that sounded fun.

Really, I'd go to any gathering with a large number of vegans and

vegetarians.

Not for this year, but later, look for the North American Vegetarian

Society conferences. IIRC, they're usually in late July and usually

somewhere in Pennsylvania or NY. It's something like 4 days of talks

and food, surrounded by people who, if not already veg*ns, are at

least interested in learning about them. I went once.

Hi Maria.  I too have decided to become vegetarian and just joined this group.

In less than a week, I've already copied several recipes to use and truly enjoy

the interactions amongst the group members.  Don't hesitate to offer questions,

recipes, feedback, etc.  It's a very interactive and friendly group.
