I just wanted to say Thank you to everyone for all the help in deciding on a CSA

to join this year. I found a few more that are closer to me than an hour and

fifteen minutes :-)  I ended up joining one in Milford, NH.....which is less

than half an hour from my house, had pickups on Saturdays, and lets you choose

your veggies versus packing a basket for you. This particular CSA does not have

a work option, which is fine with me because I'm a full time Americorp VISTA

volunteer and my schedule is tight as it is. I wasn't able to personally find

anyone who was a member, but the local harvest website had a couple of reviews

and they were thumbs up, so I took the plunge. I was a little unsure about full

share versus half share, but I figured we would go whole hog this year and if

it's too much then next year we do a half share.

Thanks again everyone!

I am in a food for work program with the local CSA at an organic farm.

My husband was not in favor of it at first, now he loves it. I'm

learning to garden organically in our area and we have had wonderful

food. I think the CSA membership here is 365.00 for 16 weeks. Everyone

gets the same box at different days of the week. I like having the food

packaged for me, because we tried things I never would have before. I

had never heard of sunchokes before, but we loved them roasted with

some olive oil. Our farm gives out recipes with most boxes. Anything

that looked like I had too much and would spoil, I froze or gave away.

The food is usually picked either the same day the boxes are packed or

1 day prior so they are extremely fresh. My husband had never had some

of the vegetables fresh before and the difference between fresh carrots

and store carrots is amazing! If I couldn't work at the farm, we would

definitely buy a membership. Fresh organice food can't be beat and

dividing the boxes received by the dollar amount, it does work out to

be a good deal financially too.
