Hey Cyndy,

I miss my llamas and their poop. It's so

great for the gardens. I couldn't bring them with me to the new place--a very

happy twelve-year old 4 H'er has them now.

Strip mulching is so much nicer to the

earth than tilling. Lay down cardboard,

pile on straw, weeds, grass clippings, more

straw (my straw comes from the bunny/

chicken barn). The rains will tamp it down.

Keep adding whatever you have. In a year

(more or less) that piece of ground should

yield dirt like whipped cream. Full of earth

worms. They are so happy under all that

good stuff to eat.

From start to finish I can have beautiful,

healthy lush gardens in two years.

This place had great trees and shrubs

but no flower gardens--in three years

I've established loads of pocket gardens

and one huge English garden plus the

veggie garden.

The wild yeast sourdough is interesting--

where did you get your start? I'd like to

try it.

If you're ever on the coast come visit.

We miss the three llamas that we had several years ago. A black bear killed one

of them so we donated the other two to an animal rescue group. We loved using

their poop in the garden. It went into a giant compost pile and then into the

garden.
