Guest guest
- HI Tee, I'm glad you got over to the Adventist Book Center and Health food store. I love going there and stocking up, especially on the frozen things and canned things. Your day sounds great. The state farmers market in Montgomery is a nice place to go and support the farmers, while getting really fresh produce. Last time I was there, one of the vendors had a prolific eggplant overload and sold me about 10 in a bag for $3. I loved that! Guest guest
Sounds like you found yourself a favorite store. I wonder if we have something like that around my area, NE Ohio. I will have to do some checking. I am really wanting to start cooking more new stuff. Hubby has found himself a new lunch nonmeat that he really likes. In fact I have to stop on my way home tonight and pick up some more for him. Well let us know how everything turns out for you. I will say one this group does inspire you cook and create new things. I just love it here!! Hugs, Mindy , " Tee " <teer2008 wrote: > > Ok ya'll have me heart and soul. I found meatless pork rinds!!! OMG they taste BETTER than the real thing!! I went to the 7th Day Advenst Book and Nutrition store in Montgomery someone here mentioned and I could have spent a lot more than I did, but I wanted to start small. Little boy, my toddler Darian, had other ideas. He saw the dried fruits and nuts and snuck in some dried papaya before I could stop him! We also found these granola/fruit bar things that cost about and are about the same size as the homemade fudge you find in southern gas stations. LOL (I don't know why either.) At any rate it was GOOD! I bought it for little boy and I had to beg him for a little taste. I personally couldn't tell it was carob and not chocolate chips. That surprised me too, but it was so yummy! I am just flippin about these Vegetable skins though. I snarffed down the whole bag and I have only been at my puter maybe 5 minutes! Looking at it, it's just fried dough with MSG groan, but oohhhh so lovely!!!! So now if the tvp, and nutritional yeast are even half as yummy I will be fine. I tested myself today eating out at Applebees I didn't find one single meatless dish besides a side salad. So I asked for the soup and the chicken penne without the chicken. WOW!! I am sooo going to recreate the chickenless penne at home. I loved the taste of all those cheeses with the pico de gallo on top. I went to the farmers market and blew a wad of money on tomatoes, ok not so much money, but can we say marinara!!! I will be cooking up sauces tonight to store in the fridge and I got some green ones for my favorite fried green tomatoes. Darian demanded strawberries and apples and corn. I had to have shelling peas also as it keeps me close to my grandmother. They gave me a deal since I bought so much from that stall. I also went to wally world picked up some extra firm tofu and some soy chorizo and some mexican white non-cheese. So help me out ladies!! (I'm thinking burritos with refried beans and homemade tortillas!) However I'll be on asking what the heck to I do with tvp and nutritional yeast when i get closer to using them. lol Oh I also got some huge protabellos and some of the meatless corndogs to see if the kids will eat those. I am in love ya'll! I will be busy cooking up a storm! Thank you so much for giving me the courage to step out of my comfort zone and experiment again! I didn't buy anything overly expensive, but I was suprised at the fact I didn't have to! > ~Tee > >
