Guest guest
Coriander and cilantro are the same herb with different names. It's called cilantro in the West [uS, Mexico, South America] and coriander in Europe, the Middle East, & India. The seeds and roots of both are frequently used in South Asian [indian & Thai] cooking, as well as Turkish & Middle Eastern cooking. The seeds of cumin/coriander/caraway done in a 2:1:1 ratio & toasted in a pan or in the oven and ground in a coffe grinder can be served as a condiment simply blended into the soup or sauce. Often used together with harissa to give it some pizazz. It's delicious. There are some nice photos in the WIkipedia entry here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriander --- On Sat, 8/1/09, Adelaide Meyers <adelaidemeyers wrote: Adelaide Meyers <adelaidemeyers Judy Cilantro ...Thank you Judith....was: hello and here's a recipe Saturday, August 1, 2009, 1:49 PM Judy, I had heard before that coriander and cilantro are the same herb - my question is : Are they exactly the same? I mean is one the leaves and the other the seeds? Or they different versions of the same herb ( like Granny Smith Apples vs. Red Delicious ) I am just curious and find this very interesting.
