Guest guest
Hi Mike: There are absolutley amazing meat substitutes on the market to satisfy your cravings! I never crave meat, but love these products because they provide so much protein. My personal favorites: 1] tofu hot dogs & corndogs 2] " VEAT " fake chicken, fake sausage, fake McNuggets, 3] Vegetarian Plus brand: a]fake " beef " chunks in sweet & sour sauce b]vegan shrimp w/classic seafood cocktail sauce & lemon juice [which I call shrimp " mocktail " and all my carnivorous friends love... 4] Tofurky brand fake roast turkey & fake turkey gravy [makes an awesome fake hot turkey sandwich openfaced on your favorite bread with cranberry sauce These products are made from soy, from seitan, from tofu...all delicious. Oh, I forgot. There's fake bacon, too, so you can make a towering club sandwich w/tofurkey slices and soy swiss & soy cheddar cheese. Awesome stuff. --- On Fri, 3/6/09, k9s4mom <k9s4mom wrote: > k9s4mom <k9s4mom > Re: group > " vegetarian group " > Friday, March 6, 2009, 2:53 PM > Hi Mike, > > I would suggest to go to PETA.com and wasch some of their > videos . Guest guest
And Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) has many uses. Put it in chili and you'll never miss the meat. Guest guest
I used to love hot dogs, and still craved them occasionally -- I think I tried every veggie hot dog I could find and couldn't stand any of them. Then somebody on this list told me to try Worthington's veggie hot dogs, which are canned hot dogs (sounds weird but they're great!) The Big Franks are my favorites. Morningstar Farms' corndogs are great, too. I haven't been eating as many meat substitutes lately, the breakfast sausages just didn't taste good the last time I had them. I didn't really intend to go 100% vegetarian, I thought I liked a good filet mignon too much to " give it up " -- but the last couple of times I had a steak, it didn't taste good to me. I don't eat any meat now, and even the taste of chicken broth in something tastes nasty to me. I really think your tastes change. Audrey S. Guest guest
I find myself craving hot dogs. But, with enough relish, mustard and onions.....veggie dogs are fine! <g> sue Audrey Snyder wrote: > > > I used to love hot dogs, and still craved them occasionally -- I think I > tried every veggie hot dog I could find and couldn't stand any of them. Guest guest
I have been practicing some different recipes lately and stumbled across something that works great. Probably one of the best meat analogs I have come across. Found it in the Indian section at Wegmans. It is called Nutrela Chunks Looks like dog kibble Basically what you do is make it like pasta. Throw it in water boil and wow does it expand I made a cup and I had way to much, It has a nice chewy texture to it. Making a garam masala potato dish with it right now. The house has a nice Cinnamon smell with this baking. Have to take a break from the raw living to try this. , Audrey Snyder <AudeeBird wrote: > >>
