Guest guest
It states it's a product of Canada. I suggest you go to the link I sent in, many they can direct you. My sister found one of the products at a Trader Joe's and I found a whole line at a Fresh and Easy Market chain. Seitan, lol. I like some of it but some tastes way too much like the real thing for me. Might be the chewy texture. It's a perfect product for a new vegetarian making the transition or anyone with the old craving. Vegetarianism has really come a very long way since the first time I changed over. It's a piece of cake to become a veg now. The group, our recipes, all the new products, the cookbooks, and the internet and mail order. Might I find the products at, say, Whole Foods? They look interesting and, well, they look TASTY. I would like to give them a try sometime soon! --Laura B., in Illinois PS: Oh, I almost forgot! Last Tuesday, I tried " seitan " for the first time. (Tee-hee-hee! I called a friend of mine and told her, " I just ate the devil! " ) --She knew what I meant, because her DH is vegetarian and she's cooked with seitan before, but I had not. I found the (cooked) seitan on a deli " hot " bar at a Whole Foods in St. Louis area. It was prepared in a sort of gravy or " thickened cooking juices " and flavored like chick'n...had bell peppers and onions (mushrooms and maybe some water chestnuts, perhaps) and was served alongside cooked brown rice. I liked it--I was glad they had it, because that way I could sample it without committing to a whole package of the product and maybe not liking it after all. Around here, there's not much liklihood of finding seitan, outside of a small health foods grocery/bakery about 35 miles from here--but at least now I can say I've tried it and like it and might soon get some to cook at home. --L.
