If not, do you go out to eat, or do you not celebrate the day at all?The foods that seem to be associated with Valentine's Day are strawberries and chocolate - so I reckon it would be a good excuse for me to make a chocolate cake decorated with strawberries.Jo So, men are scattered and smeared over the desert grass, And the generals have accomplished nothing. -Nefarious War Li Po (Circa 750)
Guest guest
My husband and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day. Our anniversary of when we met is about 2 weeks before this day so we celebrate that instead. We both think that it's too commercialized and that people feel they " have to " do something because it's Valentine's Day rather than wanting to do something. This is our basis for not celebrating on the day itself. Debra , " heartwerk " <jo.heartwork wrote: > > With Valentine's Day fast approaching - does anyone make a special > meal for this day? Guest guest
Thanks Debra. It is commercialised. We also celebrate our dates of meeting, engagement, wedding anniversaries etc. We celebrate every day if we can, and Valentine's Day is no exception. To me, the fact that it is commercialised is not very important, because you don't have to spend money to do something romantic. Enjoy your 'day of meeting' celebration :-) Jo - dadiemert Thursday, February 05, 2009 5:34 PM Re: Valentine's Day My husband and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day. Guest guest
When I asked about celebrating I didn't mean does everyone buy things! It's not necessary to buy cards etc. Jo - fraggle Thursday, February 05, 2009 7:22 PM Re: Valentine's Day just us hahahaha Valentines day is a HUGE hallmark holiday. roses, diamonds, and chocolate sales go thru the roof........... Guest guest
Â Buddy Boy Well that's a great idea of urs. I hope it'll work..HAPPY VALENTINE DAY & eNJOy ! Â ________________________________ mrswalp29 <mrswalp29 Wednesday, 11 February, 2009 2:38:53 AM Valentine's Day So I am curious what is everyone doing for the love in your lofes this V-Day? My husband and I are going out on Friday (he is planning) so I don't know. I sent him a naughty card at work and his boss opened it...hehe I also bought us " His Girl " " Her Man " coffee cups other then that I am stumped. I bought the kids a small box of chocolates and we are going to the YMCA on Saturday to swim. As for baking I just made banana bread with heart muffin paper and red sprinkles on top. I am watching my weight so I don't plan on any other baking I would rather send heart chocolates in the lunch boxes. Steph @---->------ - Add more friends to your messenger and enjoy! Guest guest
I got my hubby lingerie for me to wear. It'll be nineteen years this May, so I try to keep things exciting for him. I will probably get him some chocolate too and will make him a romantic dinner with candles and music and china. Roni
Guest guest
Well I'm still unsure if my husband will be back in town or not. If he is home we will go out for a nice dinner. If not I will surprise him with a nice dinner the night comes home. I am making him a Valentine's Day gift instead of buying him something. I do know that I will spend part of my afternoon at the farm rescue I volunteer with. I will gladly accept them as my Valentine. I will be baking vegan cookies for the Saturday crew and also baking cookies for the horses and picking up fruit and ginger snaps for the goats and pigs. Guest guest
I have told DH not to buy me chocolates or jewelry, no matter how many commercials tell him to. I found out he likes chocolate from two local shops, so I popped out today and bought him a small box of very nice chocolate and hid it in my music studio where he will not look. -ginger
Guest guest
Since we are really tight on money, we promised no gifts (although he bought me a box of chocolate and I bought him a movie...he he he). However, I bought some strawberries at the store and notied that they were big, so I made some chocolate covered strawberries for our dessert. I have a new recipe planned for dinner, nothing special, so if it turns out bad we will be eating a lot of strawberries!! Oh, and I bought a can of whipped cream...To go on the ice cream, silly! (we are lacto-ovo veggies right now). , " mrswalp29 " <mrswalp29 wrote: > > So I am curious what is everyone doing for the love in your lofes this > V-Day?
