Guest guest
Nancy, When I was growing up, we would go and pick bushels of peas and beans at the local farmers fields, then shell and freeze them, for hours on end. I agree with you. They taste tons better. Our local produce stand has a bean and pea sheller and folks bring in their bushels of beans or peas and can get them shelled there in no time at all. The produce stand also sells fresh shelled beans and peas. I get them to mix together 2 - 3 different kinds in a pound zip loc bag and boil them up in salted water and a tsp of cooking oil. Then add some diced up fresh tomatoes and vidalia onions over them on my plate.......... Talk about good!!!! Judy - Nancy Curtis Tuesday, June 09, 2009 11:24 PM Re: What I did today...... Today, I shelled a wholel bushel of fresh pinto beans....it took me almost 6 hours! Tomorrow, I am going to can the ones I didn't cook for dinner tonight.....whew! But, they taste SO much better than dried, cooked pinto beans....it will be worth it!! Nancy C. East Texas
