Guest guest
During WW2 I remember reading that the people of Scotland who were used to feeding their oats to livestock, started eating the oats in various cooked dishes and the overall health of the people improved. And while its true that soy is fed to livestock, I remember reading a book a dozen years ago that discussed how many more people could be fed with the soy beans, than from the meat produced from the cow who ate the soy beans. And the article doesnt discuss the English diet and how people waste a lot of food and have health issues related to over eating. And recent reputable medical studies show that people who eat less live longer and have few medical problems overall. And so much of today's foods are processed and no longer whole. Was remembering the small grocer we used as a kid, where the store had wood floors and was 10% the size of the bigger grocery store I shop at now. They carried the necessities, had an old fashioned meat market and bakery. And we were so excited when we could buy the occasional bottle of strawberry, orange or cherry soda from the case where the gla ss bottles were kept cold in ice water. If people as discussed in the article were restricted to necessities and a vegan or non meat diet, they would be healthier and they would discover more ways to prepare and enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables. ~Beth~ The Dragon <dragonsteeluk http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article6789958.ece#cid=OTC-RSS\ & attr=797084 I hope you can all read it okay!
