Guest guest
I have never been to a Trader Joe's! The burgers sound great, though! The closest one to me is in St. Louis, which is 5 hours away -- and who wants to go to St. Louis anyway?? Oops -- no offense to members in St. Louis!! I don't think they could put one in Kansas because of the weird alcohol laws we have here (can't sell liquor or wine outside of a liquor store, restrictions on what exactly can be sold in a liquor store, etc), but they could easily put one on the Missouri side of the city and have TONS of business. Guest guest
I've heard lots of good things about Trader Joe's wine! I don't think we're the most restrictive state in the union with regard to alcohol, but one of. Until a couple of years ago, grocery stores couldn't even sell beer on Sunday. Liquor stores can now be open on Sunday, that was a long hard fight. It was especially a silly law because the largest city in the state is smack on the Kansas/Missouri border, so everybody just went to Missouri to buy their alcohol on Sundays -- most liquor stores here are small businesses, and they just couldn't compete against the Missouri stores. Of course, we still have higher alcohol and gas taxes than Missouri, which is another battle! When I do Kansas fund-raising events, we go buy large amounts of beer and wine on the Missouri side, where it's cheaper. Technically, I think that's illegal, but how are you going to enforce a law like that? Sorry, off my soap box now! (and I'm not even a big drinker!) Guest guest
We do have some Trader Joe's in PA, but we also have the idiot state liquior laws and state stores are the only one's allowed to sell anything other than beer to the public. Well, bars can, but store wise it's a state run monopoly. Gotta love the idiocy of the state. Dennis
