The first time I tasted it I hated it also, then I tried to use it in a recipe and I could smell it on my hands so that made me hate it all over again. My BIL is from Yucatan and he puts it on or in everything, the more I ate it the better I liked it so now I put it on and in everything. I go through a fresh batch a week. I will never like mint. Guest guest
I remember reading a book describing herbs and their medicinal and culinary uses. " Cilantro " was mentioned, and the author described it as " evil-smelling " . I never forgot that quip, but learned to like the bitey flavor of cilantro. I usually have it as a dried herb, and only rarely encounter fresh cilantro. It's available here, but not always good quality. Now, PARSLEY...that's another matter! Now that it's warming up, I seriously NEED to find a LARGE packet or two of parsley seeds to plant! I used to grow parsley even when I was not where I could make a " conventional " vegetable garden. Parsley, for me, is a huge " must have " --and I go thru an enormous (restaurant service-sized) LARGE container of dried parsley from SAM's Club in just a few months! I like to put parsley on everything. Whatever I don't try to sprinkle parsely on usually gets some Cilantro instead! --Laura B., in Illinois Posted by: " Donnalilacflower " thelilacflower thelilacflower Thu Mar 5, 2009 11:32 pm ((PST)) That is so funny.
