Guest guest
I have 4 cats, and one of them seems to always know when I am getting the tofu out of the fridge to make something with it. Before last summer, he used to come 'round and sit just as close as he could get to the base of the kitchen counter and look up at me and make the most pleading (whining) " Meeooowwww! " to " ask " to get a small chunk of tofu, which he would daintily nibble at and and then seem to ask for more! Well, last summer, DH and I had to be gone for 4 days and when we got back, the pet sitter told me she thought one of my cats was sick, and it turned out to be the little " tofu-beggar " named " Tiger " . He happens to be special to me--he has 3 legs and is just so cute and loving...I was so sad to find out he was the one who seemed sick! He had a urinary infection and crystals in his bladder. Alas! The vet insisted on him getting on a special type of cat food for " the rest of his life " , supposedly to prevent his getting any more severe urinary problems. He had to give up his tofu-begging! I don't give Tiger little pieces of tofu anymore, but he really did like them, and he was the only one of my cats that ever had interest in trying it. It probably wouldn't hurt to give him a small tidbit of it now, but if he ever got another " episode " and had to go to the vet, I sould not face the vet (who can be intimidatingly stern) if I had " cheated " on Tiger's food. Oh well! It always seemed to me a mystery why one cat would like one kind of food and all the rest never had any interest. Another of my cats seemed to like a little cooked broccoli just once in a while. They are strange little creatures! Sorry to be so off-topic, but it's late, I am foggy-brained from visiting relatives across the state today and a post about cats and their idiosyncrasies just got my attention! Good wishes to one and all! --Laura B., in Illinois (with my DH and 4 cats!) ****** My one cat loves tofu and will eat a bit when I open a package. It doesn't bother her but the other cat runs from it. Donna
