Guest guest
Dear Mike, I happened to have some hemp seed butter in my 'fridge so I thought I'd give you the info I had off the label. I am often in Santa Cruz, California, and there is a wonderful grocery store there called The Staff of Life. It has many vegetarian, vegan, organic, and alternative products. It is one of those stores that probably started in the 60's or 70's and instead of dying out, got even more popular and stronger...yeah! The jar of hemp seed butter I have is from Manitoba Harvest (that's the brand). You can contact them at info or by calling 1-800-665-HEMP (4367). Here's the label's nutritional breakdown: 1 serving = 1 Tbsp. (30g) Calories: 160 Total Fat: 9.8g Saturated Fat: .7g Trans Fat: 0g Omega-3 Polyunsaturates 2.0 g Omega-6 Polyunsaturates 6.2 g Omega-9 Monounsaturates .8 g Cholesterol 0mg Sodium 10mg Total Carbohydrates 7g Dietary Fiber 1g Sugars 1g Protein 11g From my experience, may I suggest being sure to read the expiration date on the hemp butter jar (or hemp oil, etc. for that matter). It doesn't have a really long shelf life, and they suggest keeping it refrigerated. I'm not sure what happens to the potency of hemp products after their expiration date is past, but I have noticed that it starts tasting fishy (like fish), which to me, is a complete turn-off. When it is fresh however, I really like the taste and I love the fact that I can get my Omegas and balance out my diet in a tasty way...and...errr... it kinda feels like I'm being a rebel, consuming hemp! He, he, he! Take care, Hyldi It also provides 20% of the RDA for Iron, based upon a 2,000 calorie diet.
