Guest guest
Ha-ha!! Another funny cat story! We, too, have a female equivalent of your " Darth Katti " . (She's the leader of the Vulcan Cats, but her name is " Wednesday " .) When Wednesday was much younger (though I think she still does this occasionally, she'd sit placidly in an upstairs room of the house we lived in at the time and gaze out thru these large dormer windows to watch the birds in the yard, the trees and the nearby parking lot near our house. Every now and then, she'd lean slightly forward and clatter her teeth together rapidly. It had an eerie, rattlesnake-like sound, this teeth-chattering that Wednesday did. I read somewhere that some cats do this as they get sight of prey animals (small birds, mice, etc). Apparently, it's something of a reflex, as if the cat were imagining stalking, pouncing, then capturing the bird or whatever--the teeth-chattering is an instinctive ratchet-like jaw movement that cats do that insures their prey are quickly dispatched when caught. (Perhaps Wednesday, seeing the birds, was thinking, " I've gotcha now! " ) My younger daughter, to whom Wednesday originally " belonged " would say, " She's contacting the Mother Ship in cat-code, " whenever one of us happened to catch Wednesday doing the weird teeth-rattling. I'm glad your " hallucination " turned out to be something much less dangerous and rather amusing instead! Your Darth Katti sounds like one cool dude of a cat! He sounds like fun! Peace and smiles! --Laura B., in Illinois finally figured it out, though. Fireflies.(lightning bugs) We've had some odd things happen in and around the garage but never this. At least I hope it's fireflies, either that or Darth Katti was contacting the Mother Ship and about to be beamed up. Maybe I just need to eat more carrots. Hugs to all, Jeanne in GA
