Guest guest
Yup, got about 50 pounds of it. We eat a LOT of rice and prefer the traditional sticky rice.I usually keep a jar of su in the fridge since it is so good on rice (beans, salads, cucumbers, tomatoes....) I posted a recipe from a seed company which sells seeds for veggies found in Japan (like the to die for Japanese eggplants) and haven't done it by recipe since. Generally I toss a little rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil into a jar, shake and keep in fridge. Sometimes I use sesame oil, sometimes not - awesome over raw cucumbers and rice. Bet the grandkids would eat the sneaky beans added to rice balls. One would have anyway, since he preferrs veggies over anything else (even candy). Thanks for telling me, Donna. Guess what I'm making for dinner tomorrow? Jeanne in GA

Guest guest
Groan, evil woman. I just finished dinner and am seriously considering going to play in the kitchen. Great idea! I've got white and black sesame seeds so will mix them up - it will be gorgeous. Oh, I forgot. Folks looking for take-along lunch ideas might look into rice balls and bento. It beats a salad or calorie laden fast foods. Art for the stomach and eye. Jeanne in GA

Guest guest
How about nice little fried wasabi peas? Totally addictive snack I buy by the pound. Since I'll eat them but my stomach doesn't appreciate it, I'll keep a tiny baggie worth and give the rest to my daughter in love who actually snacks on hot hot hot peppers. Looking at that site I posted before, wouldn't it make a gorgeous presentation to put small rice balls, rolled in black or white sesame seeds (toasted) in the center with sliced, pickled Japanese radishes fanned around it like a flower? Then two snow peas could be the leaves and strips of scallion the stem. Maybe a little red chili sauce squiggled over the plate and crossed with squiggles of sweet and sour sauce - or would that be overkill? Hmm.....You know, if I mix cooked sticky rice with some of the lovely little fried wasabi peas and made ombusubi from that, it would be rather pretty and a surprise in the mouth. I wonder if the peas would loose their nice krispness overnight. A sweet would be a nice taste with that but right now the brain isn't coming up with anything with a complimentary flavor. Lessee, a tiny bit of sour pickle in the center, the rice with wasabi peas would give sour/hot, so I'd need sweet to balance it out. It is SO time to put the air conditioner in the kitchen. When you open the refrigerator and a dozen cats try to get in and they aren't after the food, it's too hot to cook. Jeanne in GA
