One of my most favorite drinks is to prepare organic coffee beans and brew into

a wonderful hot or iced drink. I like to add a tablespoon of organic powdered

chocolate and a couple tablespoons of organic sugar. Wow ! Is that Vegetarian

and healthy or what? LOL

But I can tell you if I drink this sugar laden, double caffeine drink before

bedtime I will not be able to get to sleep until the wee hours of the morning.

This Cafe Mocha is definetely a before 4 PM drink.

For me anyway eating a large , heavy, spicy meal close to bedtime also causes my

body to be working hard at digestion when my brain would like to sleep.

Therefore I try to eat my heaviest meals at breakfast.

Seasons make a difference too. Most of us can eat heavier meals in the cold

months of Winter than in Summer.

Exercise before sleep is not a good idea. Walks and a bath or shower and a cup

of herbal decaf tea also work. We tell the little ones they can have a cup of

" Sleepytime Tea " (Chamomile). Works every time.

Watching TV before sleep is not a good idea. Meditation and soothing music is.

Like my Cafe Mocha ..I don't think it's so much what you eat but when.

I sleep like a baby, mostly from physical exhaustion. I do not remember having

troubles sleeping back when I ate meat either. I had many other bad effects

from eating meat though.... I am glad veggie food is having this effect on you,

seems like a good thing.

For those of you that have problems sleeping, try this. 45 to 60 minutes of

strenuous physical activity, any endurance type activity (rather than weights)

really early in the morning. For example after sunrise and before work, if you

work 'normal' hours that is. This works well on lots of people if the reason

you are not sleeping is mild depression. Don't know anything about other causes

for insomnia or severe depression (see a doctor for the latter).

Yeah morning exercise will increase your metabolism for the whole day.

Exercise generally will increase your metabolism for the next 6 hours, and

can really help you get adequate rest. A good balance of physical activity

and adequate rest is important, and the two complement each other.

In Chinese medicine, " depression " is usually caused by liver qi stagnation,

which can also result from emotional trauma. Getting up and moving around

can get things moving and break that stagnation. The stagnation can also

cause heat to rise up and disturb the heart, causing restlessness,

agitation, insomnia, etc.
