Guest guest
Hi, Yep. There's a foot and a half of snow outside; We are lucky - we're warm and toasty here in the mile-high city. Our National Guard is bringing food to stranded motorists thru out the night and this morning. Every year, Colorado has a week long health fair where folks can get free screenings and low cost tests done--they had to cancel the fair at many sites due to the weather, but they will reschedule next month. Guest guest
Marilyn, I just spoke by phone to my aunt in Denver and she said it is not snowing just rain. If DIA was not closed down the storm is not all that bad. During the last snow a few wks ago air traffic was diverted to our city from DIA. From what we hear the mountains got the most snow which is great. Here on the Colorado Plains we are enjoying brief snow but mostly rain. I haven't heard of anyone who has lost power. These Spring storms come in quickly and leave just as fast. Temps in the following days will be in the 60's and 70's. Farmers and gardeners are always happy for the rain. Guest guest
That is what my friend said, but her husband is working overnight and she can't get the snow off the top of the trailer. It is heavy and could break through. I told her to fill tubs and any jugs with water before the outage. I told her she could always put the jugs outside instead of using the refrigerator and told her to stay out of the refrigerator and freezer so nothing will spoil. The article I read had over 10,000 houses without power. Thanks for the update. Guest guest
My sister in western Denver (almost to Golden) is fine -- just not getting out because it's too much trouble! Glad to hear everybody else seems to be ok! Audrey S.
Guest guest
I just pray for the workers to get power back on to the ones who lost theirs yesterday. I am glad everyone is OK, too. Guest guest
My sister works for the power company out there, and she's ridden with the linemen, so she's seen what they have to deal with. Not fun, but they do get paid well for it. I wouldn't want the job! Audrey S. Guest guest
I wouldn't want the job either. They are great. We had to have help from NC and SC when we had a 6 day blackout a few years back. I am in KY and they sent crews to assist us. No power is bad. Guest guest
Yep, they'll go all over the country. They work long shifts and sometimes have to sleep in tents (when they get any sleep). But most of them go very willingly -- they get paid very well for it and the younger guys seem to enjoy the excitement. Audrey S.
