Guest guest
I am so thankful that my parents raised me as a lacto-ova vegetarian from birth. I would have never dreamed of or desired to eat meat. I'm glad we didn't have a wishy washy meal plans with some eating meat in the household and some not. It can really send lots of mixed messages to children, especially those that are vegetarian. We are also raising our children as vegetarians and they are repulsed by meat too. You are to be their mentor and advisor or healthy eating and many of life's important decisions. Kids need that from their parents and it is your God given responsibility. You should be the one forming much of who they are and will become one day. Don't let the world shape your child. That can lead to dangerous consequences. It is very important that you pass along good eating habits to your children. And while many of the kids, that our children have encountered, thru their many activities, are meat eaters, they have found that most kids are just curious and never met a vegetarian. They have been raised to be strong in their beliefs. We've armed them with the health knowledge and animal reasons, as well as our faith, that we choose to be vegetarians. You are the best ones to influence their life choices and decisions, so be sure and do a good job. Their health and lifestyle depend on it. Teach your child how to influence others for good eating habits, instead of visa versa. I can tell you that when I was still dating, that finding someone that understood, that I wanted to have a meat free house, was one of the most important qualities to be in agreement on. The other was someone of the same faith. Both extremely important for the peace and joy of a family. I've found both and it has made for a happy family and marriage. Here's to lots of good vegetarian cooking for our families. Judy
