Guest guest
I was coming home from working at the organic farm this week and saw a sign up for vegies for sale with an arrow. This led to a very old farm house (1880's) only about a mile from my house. The man who runs it is a very nice older man who has 10 LARGE gardens around his house. He has 17 acres total, but not all in gardens. Everything is cut or picked as people request it. I wanted some cucumbers so he said lets go to the cucumber patch. We walked over to his other garden and looked through the plants until we found enough. The lady in front of me wanted some lettuce, so he took a knife and cut how much she wanted. Way cool!! He always gives out something free to keep people coming back. I don't think he needed to give us anything free, we'll be back! He goes to Walmart 2x a week and writes down their prices and then charges the same amount for his very fresh stuff. He opens every night from 4:00-7:00 during growing season. I'm so happy I found his place. He is not certified organic, but said he doesn't use anything chemical in his gardens. Too expensive he said. Between the organic CSA farm and his place I got: zucchini italian squash crookneck squash armenian cucumbers pickling cucumbers basil dill red potatoes garlic tomatoes peaches chili peppers green peppers red onions a zinia bouquet We had roasted vegies (2 large pans full) for dinner and banana peach smoothies for desert. My husband said it was the best dinner in a long time and he used to be a major carnivore. Michelle in NV
