You could always count on her having some of these. 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup white sugar 1 cup vegetable shortening Mix well and add: 3 eggs Mix 2 level teaspoons of baking soda with 1 tbsp. boiling water. Add to above mixture and blend in. Add: 4 cips flour 1/2 tsp. salt Mix well. Cut up 1 12 ounce package of dates. Add with 3/4 cup nuts and 1 tsp. vanilla. Place dough on wax paper and roll into a log. Chill at least 3 hours. Bake at 350 degrees. about 10 minutes. Cool. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
