Guest guest
Hi! We were just invited to a birthday party for our friends' kids. It was at a local restaurant in a party room and they ordered pizza for everyone. The party was great, but the problem is that ALL 10 pizzas had meat on them so my dh and I couldn't eat. I know that it was simply an oversight on my friend's part (we've only been vegetarian for about 6 months and don't often eat with them...although she knows we are veggie) but should we have said something to them? We contemplated ordering our own food but didn't want to be rude (luckily it was a short party and we were able to wait until we got home to eat). Guest guest
I wouldn't have said anything, either -- that's what would have been rude. I would have ordered my own food, unless I was only planning on staying for a courtesy visit. If you ordered your own food, they might have noticed and felt bad, and you could tell them it was no big deal -- and I'll bet you next time they would have remembered. Audrey S. Guest guest
These things are never easy. Being vegetarian and not vegan you could have said in advance when you replied to the RSVP, will there be plain cheese pizza available or do we need to pay for a small one in advance since we have become vegetarian, this will turn on the light and I'm sure they would order a cheese or veggie pizza. I'm sure they forgot and if you say something when you are there in front of the non-veg pizza, you would hear, just pick off the pepperoni. When a non-v eg person says this to you, and believe me they will, don't be offened. They just don't understand. Now since I have cow's milk allergy I eat before I go to those functions as probably many of the vegans do. I also have a BIG purse to toss my banana, crackers, etc in so I'm always prepared. Guest guest
I agree that I thought it was odd that there wasn't a cheese pizza for the kids. On a side note, this isn't a restaurant that's known for it's pizza so I assumed we would have a buffet that includes the salad bar which is why I didn't think to ask her about the food... But now I know to always ask On Thu, Apr 2, 2009 at 4:45 PM, Audrey Snyder <AudeeBird wrote: > That struck me as odd, too, that they didn't order cheese pizza for > kids. > Even when I was ordering pizza regularly for large groups of adults, I > always ordered 1/3 plain cheese.
