Guest guest
Oh yes, Judy, I remember you're a southern lady -- pecans are a must! Those pecan sandies sound wonderful.... I don't know if I could sacrifice pecans for something other than pecan pie, though... hmm.... If I drive very far east and south of Kansas City (around 100-150 miles), I start seeing advertisements all over the place for pecans, and pecan groves! We always used English walnuts in chocolate chip cookies, fudge, brownies, and other baked goods (if we used any at all!) And we never baked with black walnuts, though I grew up eating them right out of the shell in the backyard tree house. We were encouraged to pick them up out of the yard to minimize the number of new trees, and stockpiled them in the tree house -- but the squirrels are not dumb and they frequently raided our stores!
