Guest guest Posted April 16, 2009 Report Share Posted April 16, 2009 DJ, Well, some folks do soak and others don't. A lot depends on how 'mushy' you want your beans...soft or more al dente'. If I have time or think about it, I'll try to soak, at least for an hour. Otherwise for black, I'd probably go about 40 minutes. That said, I have an electric, so it pretty much runs itself.
