Guest guest
This is the problem I'm having. Miss Vickie's chart says to pressure-cook black beans which have been soaked for 12 minutes. Lorna Sass says 3-6 minutes! People here who have actually done it say 30-45 minutes, although I think without having soaked them. I found an recipe of mine from the 1980s when I was using a jiggle-top pressure cooker, and my recipe had me cooking black beans (unsoaked) for 30 minutes. There's a huge difference between 30-45 minutes unsoaked and 3 to 12 minutes, soaked. That's why I'm looking for real-life experience with it. - DJ ----------------------- Always remember: Today's mighty oak is simply yesterday's nut that held its ground... _____ On Behalf Of wwjd Thursday, April 16, 2009 3:18 PM Re: Dried Beans and Peas in Pressure Cooker - Charts with Guidlines I rinse the dried beans and then add to a pot of boiling water and boil for 5 minutes, covered. Turn off the burner, leave pot on hot burner and keep covered. Let set for 1 hour and then rinse again and cover with water to 2 inches over the beans. Cook in your pressure cooker according to this dried bean chart. Lentils and split peas, don't need to be soaked and a few others as you'll see on this chart. http://www.missvick <http://www.missvickie.com/howto/beans/howtobeantypes.html> ie.com/howto/beans/howtobeantypes.html & http://missvickie. <http://missvickie.com/howto/beans/bean-cooking.html> com/howto/beans/bean-cooking.html & http://www.vegparad <http://www.vegparadise.com/charts.html> ise.com/charts.html Judy

Guest guest
The time can vary, just try them and if not done repressure them. I've done it many times, then when you have it down make a note so you will know the next time. It's very easy really. Ani , " Dena Jo " <DenaJo2 wrote: > > This is the problem I'm having.
