Guest guest
Sucheta, do you eat it, put it in a drink, take capsules? Thanks, Audrey S.
Guest guest
i Audrey, A sailor friend of mine swears by Marizine which is over-the-counter. I've heard that keeping ginger ale on hand can help, and I've been told those wrist patches with the bumps on them work, too. I think it depends on the person. To get lots of good ideas, you might Google " Marizine " or " seasick remedies. " Have a lovely, lovely trip! Ginger
Guest guest
I'm with Sucheta. Ginger is incredible for nausea. I have Meniere's and there are many weeks that the only thing that helps is ginger tea and saltine crackers. Kind of like constant morning sickness on a merry go round at warp speed. I've heard that there are ginger capsules now, but make sure that it contains real ginger and not just flavoring; same thing with ginger tea. I do a combination of diced candied ginger and diced ginger root steeped in hot (almost boiling) water, with a little honey. Strain the solids out before serving either hot or cold. Often I'll make a strong infusion of ginger and candied ginger, pour into ice cube trays and put the ginger ice cubes in ginger ale. It is also good in a mixture of pineapple juice, cocoanut milk and fizzy water but no way could you get that through Homeland Security, especially if you add a little rum for medicinal value. Phenergan is good for nausea and vomiting but you need a prescription for it and it knocks most people out. Jeanne in GA

Guest guest
I have heard that pressure bands on the wrists help. Several years ago I knew someone who used them for morning sickness she said they helped. In a message dated 5/15/2009 9:10:11 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, AudeeBird writes: Need some ideas on how to avoid motion sickness, dizziness, nausea when I get on an airplane next weekend to go see my sister. I'm so excited to get to see her, but I just dread the flight for 24 hours beforehand because I know I'm going to feel sick for almost 2 hours -- the 1-hour flight plus about an hour to feel normal afterwards. Cars make me motion sick, too, but at least I can usually get some fresh air by rolling down the window -- planes are really bad... When I went for Thanksgiving, I took one of the over-the-counter meclazine pills -- didn't do a darned thing. I've heard ginger is supposed to be good to help with nausea -- does it work for motion sickness, and how do I take it? Any other ideas? Audrey S.
