Guest guest
Inspired by the post from the person who collected 25 kinds of beans, I went to the market today and got eight different kinds from the bulk section: French lentils, regular lentils, navy beans, baby lima beans, pink beans (what the heck are those, by the way? all I know is they're pink), red beans, fava beans, and more black beans. I also got four kinds of rice to go with them: white, brown, red, and wild. While I was at it, inspired by the conversation about breakfast I got oat berries, wheat berries, rye berries, dried fruits, a bunch of different nuts, and blackstrap molasses. I plan on going back to my favorite breakfast from when I was healthiest (about 10 years ago) - here it is: Cook a handful of oat, wheat, and rye berries in water for about 20 minutes, then add milk, nuts, dried fruit, sliced fruit, and blackstrap molasses. My kitchen looks bright and happy! Janet
Guest guest
Janet, You picked some winners. What? No Anasazi or Pinto Beans? LOL ! No split or black eyed peas? I love them and Baby Lima's are my favorite. What I like best about beans and peas is that they make their own tasty broth. And nothing better than beans and rice. Remember those left over beans make the best hummus, burritos, etc. Mix them with the rice for really tasty fillings for sandwiches or tacos.
