Guest guest
V y cool! My daughter has excema and the sunscreen irratates it just as much as the sun. She does like pasta with tomato sauce, as long as there are no " ahn-yons " (onions) LOL Thanks, Cassie
Guest guest
That's really neat, but I sure wouldn't risk a sun burn trying it out. I'm extremely fair-skinned, and 30 minutes in the sun can turn me the color of a tomato, and then I'm very uncomfortable for a couple of days. It may keep you from burning (and from becoming dehydrated in the sun, that makes more sense), but what about UV rays that cause skin cancer? Audrey S. Guest guest
This could be dangerous and I don't recommend it. There is nothing blocking the UR rays. Send us valid links, I will never chance it, I get moon burned I'm so white. Donna Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Guest guest
Dr. Oz (best known from Oprah) did a series called The Truth About Food, which was broadcast about a year ago on Discovery and a few other channels. One segment was about people who sunburned easily. They did an experiment, having people eat a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste daily. I can't remember how long they did it, but in the end those burn easily people did not burn so easily. Dr. Oz highly recommended eating the tomato paste daily to help prevent sun damaged skin. Thanks to those who are posting all of the recipes! We've been trying a few and have been very satisfied with our new way of life. The sun reflected off the sand and water, and silly me, we had no sunscreen. But much to my surprise, neither one of us burned. > > I was befuddled to say the least, and it stuck with me. Granted, when I was a kid, I was always the darkest one on the block after a summer of fun and games outside, but I'm half swedish, so pretty fair before it all starts. I've had my fair share of sunburns. But my son is even fairer than I am, so very confused about this, I mulled it over for years. > > Then one day I was watching NOVA, or some similar program on PBS and they did a segment on eating tomatoes every day to prevent burning. They even showed a little test by poking holes in a piece of paper, putting it over some guys arm and shining a sun lamp on it. He burned. Then he started eating tomatoes daily and they did it again a month later after the former exposure disapeared, and NO BURN. That was it!!! We had been eating basically a tomato based diet: raw (not me, I don't like them raw), pizza, spaghetti, soup, etc. on a regular basis. > > Now since our diet is slightly more balanced and we're eating SOME tomatoes but not nearly as many, I'm adding a bit more as the temperature rises, especially as my son and husband prepare for a fishing trip in July. > > If there's anyone out there who really burns, I recommend trying this. It's worth a shot! >
Guest guest
I am blonde, fair skinned and eat a diet with alot of tomatoes, soups, sauces, salsas, etc, and I burn if I am out in the sun. Maybe its psychological for some people??? It definitely doesnt make a difference for me. Cherie
