Guest guest
For giggles, I fed my Shark and got the long outdoor electric cord and went outside to steam a weed growing in the jasmine around the oak. Using the pressure nozzle, I splatted it with steam and it took out a good bit of soil around the offending weed, making it really easy to yank out of the soil. IMO, you cannot go better than steam under pressure for cleaning, especially if you have a chemical sensitivity. BUT, and keep this in mind PLEASE!!!!! When you're cleaning something really glunky nasty, wear a disposable face mask. It will get some stuff into the air, which you'll breathe in and end up with a clogged nose and sinus's that feel stuffed to the gills. Yup, it's real steam. Basically the Shark steam cleaner is a pressure cooker with hose to let the incredibly hot steam out in a controlled manner. When it runs out of water, you unplug it and let it sit till cool (about 15 minutes), then unscrew the cap, refill with water, close the cap (a very heavy screw type) and plug it back in. I keep distilled water on hand as our water is very hard, but it isn't necessary. Carl does the floors with his Shark cleaner and I can guarantee that you'll get the gunk from in between floor tiles, etc. There is even an included wire brush head for doing grout and it does a super job on mildew. The Shark is a real steam cleaner and isn't to be pointed toward skin and for heaven's sake, do NOT touch the metal steam end until it is totally cool or you will get a 2nd degree burn. To keep this semi veggie related, if our potatoes are especially dirty I like to give them a quick hit with the Shark, thoroughly dry and then store in a single layer. Oh, I love doing the refrigerator with it. Maybe it never happens to anyone else, but sugar drinks and food bits always end up glued to the refrigerator shelves but the steamer gets it right off. It's great on my oven as well, and I don't even need to use an oven cleaner. I zap it with the steam, close the door, then go back 5 minutes later and wipe it out. Works getting up baked on cherry pie filling, if this helps you! I have tried the Red Devil steam cleaner and it didn't impress me. I'm being polite there. Silly me, I thought steam cleaner meant STEAM came out... The Shark isn't cheap but worth it, especially if you are chemically sensitive (I am, too.) OOops, I forgot. It does windows like a dream and comes with a window squeegee BUT BUT BUT BUT if it is cold outside, like below freezing, you might not want to use steam to clean your windows.... AAAaand since I cannot resist, a funny story about my Shark. The first time I used it, I went totally nuts steaming everything. (You will as well.) and I was doing the kitchen windows. This is an old house with cracks and things everywhere, so the steam was just pouring out from around the kitchen windows. A neighbor taking a walk saw the steam, thought it was smoke, and called the fire department. The firemen had a great laugh over it, but it was nice to know that they would come out here so speedily.
