Guest guest
Hi Gary, To change and possibly save your life it could be a very good idea to read and follow a non-fat vegetarian diet as described by medical doctors like Caldwell Esselstyn and Dean Ornish. The attractions of their " diet " allow you to eat as much as you want every day. You eat fresh food that is good tasting, maybe not great tasting. The food is inexpensive, particularly if you raise some produce around the yard, like tomatoes and greens, and it's non-specialized -- meaning you don't have to pay some company $100s of dollars for food. Your cholesterol will drop to below 150 mg/dl and your weight will drop too. You will avoid and reverse heart attack and strokes, obesity, can reverse type 2 diabetes, and have a much better chance of avoiding typical cancers and auto-immune probs like arthritis. If you make the change you'll start seeing the effects in just a couple of weeks. It's no lie. And it's just diet. For more than twenty years these different medical doctors (Esselstyn, Ornish also Joel Fuhrman and John McDougal) have been conducting programs where they take heart-attack and stroke patients who have been sent home to die by their traditional doctors. Just by changing their diet, their symptoms are reversed and they don't die, they lead healthy active lives again. I'm in my mid-fifties and have been following the diet for the past few years with low cholesterol, low-weight -- 150's, high activity and normal blood pressure (an accomplishment for me!) and eat to full everyday with no calorie counting. Everything that I've been able to check out about what they say is true. It might cost you $10 for a book. Half the book is a diet of good recipes. The other half is science as to why the diet works. Check it out, read the reviews, and google for the criticism. http://tinyurl.com/n53bqm http://www.heartattackproof.com/ Take care, Slim , " Gary " <aintnospamforme-1 wrote: > > hello, > > My name is Gary and I am 59.5 years old. I am fat, out of shape, with high cholesterol, hbp, etc. I don't like drugs, hospitals or doctors. But I realize that I must lead a healther lifestyle. I want my 60's to be healthier than my 50's if possible. > > I have been a heavy meat eater my whole life. I am also a compulsive overeater. Going vegetarian will not be easy for me but I am going to give it a shot and see what happens. I think the hardest part will be going out to restaurants. I live in a small town in upstate NY that is not very sophisticated. The closest town with vegetarian restaurants and a vegetarian mind set is Ithaca. It is about 35 miles from here. > > In any event, i may need your advice and will probably have many questions as times goes on. > > WISH ME LUCK! > > Gary >
