Guest guest
I made the Mushroom Walnut Loaf a week or two ago -- and I emailed the group how good it was, except I had bad luck with the gravy. Couldn't get it to thicken, no taste, etc. So tonight I thawed a chunk of it that I had frozen (it freezes great, by the way!) and messed around and made up my own gravy. I sauteed onions and mushrooms, then added garlic, soy sauce, and veg worcestershire sauce and vegetable broth. Brought it to a boil, then added a mixture of 1/4 c. veg broth and 1 tbsp cornstarch, and it thickened up nicely. Good stuff! Oh, and I used the same cornstarch I had used when I tried the failed gravy, so it was not that the cornstarch was bad. Mysteries.... Audrey S.
