Guest guest Posted August 5, 2009 Report Share Posted August 5, 2009 Herbed Green Beans with Braised Garlic 3/4 lb. green beans, trimmed and cut into 2 inch pieces 2 tsps. unsalted butter 2 cloves garlic, peeled 1/8 tsp. sage, or 1/2 tsp. fresh, minced 1/2 tsp. parsley, chopped Place green beans in a steamer basket over boiling water. Cover saucepan and steam 5 to 7 minutes or until tender. Rinse under cold water and drain thoroughly. Melt butter in a heavy nonstick skillet over low heat. Stir in garlic. Cover skillet and simmer 20 minutes or until garlic is soft and lightly golden. Remove cover and mash garlic with a wooden spoon until thoroughly mixed with butter. Stir in green beans. Increase heat to medium. Sauté, stirring frequently, until green beans are heated throughout. Stir in remaining ingredients and salt and pepper to taste. Makes 2 servings.
