Tee - Applebee's and other things

What I always get at Applebee's is their Southwest Chicken Salad without

chicken. Occasionally, I think depending on the server, they'll take a

couple of dollars off the bill for no chicken. I rarely think about it to

ask, but it's worth a try. That salad is so good sometimes I'll suggest

Applebee's for that reason! (none of my family/friends are vegetarian)

I got such a kick out of reading about your shopping trip, Tee! That is

hilarious about your fake pork rinds -- I never cared for those (are pork

rinds a Southern thing?) but I was just as excited when I discovered

Worthington Big Franks :) There's a very small, dry-goods-only Adventist

food store at the hospital not far from me (but it's still worth it, I stock

up when I go); I'd love to find a big one like you apparently found!

The Soyrizo is awesome, pretty spicy, though. I think I've seen some recipes

in the files that use it, I have used it in a rice dish but don't know

whether I posted the recipe here or not. I don't know if your little ones

like spicy stuff, but it crumbles right up (you can't really slice it), so

you could mix it with some soy crumbles to make it milder, if you think it

would be a problem for your kids.

I think the Morningstar Farms corn dogs are awesome with a little mustard --

and I know meat eaters who prefer them because they're not so awfully greasy

as real corn dogs. I bet those will be a hit with your kids. They're always

better in the oven, although the package says you can microwave them.

The store in Montgomery wasn't huge, but it had a better selection than I had

seen around here at all. Way more to chose from that what I'm used to in my

podunk town. :) I hit the farmers market after we had gone there and I was

hurting my arms carrying the load in! lol Then I found the soyrizo (or whatever

it's called) at wally world. :) and yes pork rinds are very much a southern

thing as are boiled peanuts and grits. All of which I LOVE! I bought all local

produce though and that made me feel sooo good! I love being able to do that and

getting to know the people that grow the foods you are eating is such a great

feeling!
