Guest guest
Am interested in knowing how many here grew up in a family that loved but ate a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Have friends who grew up with over cooked vegetables that made them hate vegetables. Then as adults they discovered lots of raw and steamed vegetables and realized that vegetables didn't need to be yucky. And I love fresh fruits of all kind. Ok I don't like some canned fruit since its so over sweet. Right now peaches, pears, apricots, blueberries, citrus, raspberry, strawberry, blackberry are all plentiful around my area and yard. ~Beth~
Guest guest
I did, but it really hit growing up in europe where it was the norm. I can remember my mom buying me just a single piece of a favorite fruit at the open air markets when I got hungry. It was amazing. ~Tee ________________________________
Guest guest
My grandma lived with us while I was growing up. She always had a garden so we had fresh strawberries and an apricot tree for fresh too. There were lots of vegetables but they were cooked well done . I tried to be a vegetarian in the 1970's as a teenager. Michelle in NV
Guest guest
I am very thankful to my parents for all the vegetables and fruits we ate as children. A big plate of steamed green beans, carrots and potatoes was dinner often. Grilled peppers and eggplants with some minced garlic/parsley and olive oil drizzled on top. My mom has always made nice big salads, and we were competing (not fighting) over who got the last slices or cukes and tomatoes of the salad bowl. , MotherLodeBeth <MotherLodeBeth wrote: > > Am interested in knowing how many here grew up in a family that loved > but ate a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Guest guest
Unfortunately I grew up in a meat and potatoes house. Cheap meat too, hardly ever any fish, not much chicken, some pork, mostly cheap hamburger made just about any way you could make it. Is it any wonder red meat was the first thing I gave up (1985), then became an ovo-lacto vegetarian Jan. 1, 1986 -mouse
