Guest guest
I'm glad you mentioned the green clay. I had forgotten about how much a friend had talked about this. She uses it this same way for sprains and swollen joint pain. It has anti-inflamatory properties in it as well. She swears by it and uses it on her whole family. I found this when I did a search for it. http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/newsletter/06/guide_to_clays.php People with viral diseases can benefit from a diet high in lysine and low in arginine. In the following chart, the foods at the top of the list have higher lysine to arginine ratios. Arginine increases reproduction of the Herpes and shingles and will aggravate the condition. Diet and vitamin supplements may influence viral replication. Be sure and check your multivitamin for arginine. A total approach to nutrition should be used. Use this chart as a guide or a reference only, and see what happens. Look at the absolute figures for lysine and arginine content. There is no reason to avoid a food if it has a low lysine/arginine ratio and only a few mg of arginine in it. http://www.digitalnaturopath.com/data/Lysine_Arginine_Food_List.html a.. A diet that avoids arginine-rich foods while promoting lysine-rich foods can be quite effective. Lysine, an essential amino acid, is especially useful in combating herpes viruses, including herpes zoster. It helps to deter viruses from reproducing, and it is essential for tissue repair. Thus, it speeds healing and helps to prevent the infection from spreading. Take a total of 4,000 mg daily (with 500 mg capsules, take 2 or 3 at a time) for 3 to 4 days. Then cut back the dose by 500 to 1,000 mg every 2 or 3 days. a.. Zinc is an antiviral and essential to the body's resistance. Oral supplementation with zinc (30 - 100 mg daily) has been shown to be effective in reducing the frequency, duration, and severity of herpes in clinical studies. a.. Both oral consumption and topical application of vitamin C increase the rate of healing of herpes ulcers. Vitamin C not only battles the shingles virus but builds resistance back up and assists the skin in healing. Take 3,000 to 4,000 mg a day. a.. Vitamin A is an immune booster and a support for new cell growth. Take 50,000 IU daily for 10 days only. When I used to work at a doctor's office, we always handed out a sheet with the lysine and arginine food ratio chart on it to anyone suffering from herpes and shingles. Hope your husband gets feeling better soon. It's important to take steps to boost your immune system, modify your diet, and take appropriate supplements to prevent future outbreaks. - Dev Monday, December 22, 2008 6:05 AM Shingles I had Shingles a number of years ago.. here's what I did.. - Buy some Green Clay powder -Mix in a bowl with water, till it becomes like thick damp mud - apply cotton soaked mix on affected area and cover with saran wrap to keep moist, I did this for 2 weeks every day and it CURED the shingles to never come back again.. good luck.. - The mixture on affected area should always be moist.. I've been searching the internet most of the evening trying to find some alternative medicine/herbal or diet to prevent and treat his shingles. I know this isn't a medical group and nobody can prescribe a treatment, but if anyone knows a website that might have information, I would appreciate a lead. You can email me directly since this is OT. Petagoatjunction Michelle .
