Guest guest
That is such a wonderful email from you. I was raised by a vegan and she was such a food cop I would rebel. I ate non veg food and downed Cokes and ate any type pf sweet or sugar every chance I got. I have sugar addiction, I fight it every single day. You have to be kind, patient, never push your lifestyle on anyone. I don't like to say convert but maybe that is the right word, many meat eaters to vegetarianism just by taking veg food to potlucks, sharing my lunch with coworkers, entertaining and making all the dishes vegetarian, lending veg cookbooks out ( Warning: you don't always get them back), answering questions, etc. I wish I could count the number of people I know who have made rude comments towards vegetarians and have ended up a vegetarian themselves a few years later. " That is why I love this group. I would not have become vegetarian if it hadn't been due to the other groups or vegetarians I met were so critical that I never wanted to associate with them. Even now I almost aplogize because of the " bad press " from a handful of over zealous vegs, but I tell everyone of course that the group I'm on is wonderful and not judgemental in anyway. Several of my students have become veg and I've had to pull them aside to let them know that the best way to promote their lifestyle is to do it in love and as any example without condeming. In fact at Christmas the school had a Medieval Feast with 6 courses and they did some vegetarian for us. So many of the people loved the vegetarian soup I made better than the chicken/noodle that the others brought. What better way than to just have " great food " . Again,. thanks for all being so understanding -- I couldn't have done this without all your great support and recipes.
