What a great day you had, Audrey. I love it when I get up the Adventist Book

Center in Atlanta or Montgomery, AL Last time I was at one of the Adventist

Academys, I asked them if I could buy some veganaise from them. They did and I

was so happy to have some again. I love that stuff.

You're going to love that McKay's Chic'n style seasoning. I used it to make

broth for soups and gravy, add to some Italian bread crumbs for breading things,

add to some green beans and red potatoes that I cook together. etc. I often

add some to the water when I'm cooking rice.

Thanks for sharing about your fun day.

Exciting shopping trip - Adventist food store

I finally got around to making a trip to my local hospital's " Pantry, " this

afternoon, which carries a bunch of the Worthington Loma Linda products, and

other good stuff. This hospital is Seventh Day Adventist-affiliated, so

that's why they carry these products. They hide it well, I had to go through

a maze of corridors in the old wing of the hospital (and I was lucky I came

on one of only 2 days it is open), but it was very much worth it! I got two

cans of Big Franks, a can of Fri-Chik, a container of McKay's chi'kn

seasoning, and two boxes of " Jel dessert, " which is vegan and contains no

artificial flavorings or colorings -- $20. All of the prices were very

reasonable, the Big Franks were $1 less a can than the health food store.

I had done an online search before for SDA book/food stores, but no luck --

a friend told me about this one. So just because you can't find it online

doesn't mean it doesn't exist! :)

This was a pretty small store, just canned things and a few other odds and

ends, no frozen foods -- but I was glad to have the opportunity to shop

there. I can't believe I didn't know it was there, I was born at that

hospital, and I live literally across the street. :)

Thanks for the tips on the McKay's seasoning (I saw beef-style, too). If I

remember right, the McKay's has less sodium than the boullion cubes I got at

Whole Foods. I got a small jar (I remember it was less than $3) because I

remembered you saying how much you liked it. :)

Have you ever used the Jel dessert stuff?
