Guest guest
I usually make a pot of vegetable stock every Friday and use it through the week. Today I found a simple tracing of Hello Kitty and printed it out. I laid the tracing over a white potato and cut carefully around with a paring knife. I did the same with a large sweet potato. I cooked some wagon wheel pasta and the potato slices in the vegetable stock. To plate it up, I used some scallion leaves, since the nori I have ordered hasn't arrived yet and where we live one cannot find sea weed. Each kitty potato slice had long scallion leaf whiskers, tiny eyes and a bit of pimento for the nose. The vegetable wagon wheel pasta looked like little flowers floating around the kitty heads. Carl thought it was a bit silly, but I had fun doing it. It is a shame that the kids grew up and moved out before I discovered bento, but as all of the kids are male, the last thing they would have wanted to have for lunch was something cutsie pootsie looking. Guest guest
Your sons will surprise you. I know when our family gets together what they talk about is the crazy things I did for their rooms and making their lunches etc. My boys are 32 and 25. Their wivies think I am a nut. But I decided years ago when my mother passed away and my brother and I and cousins sat there talking about the things she did and laughed and to me that is important for them to be able to laugh and remember me. So crazy here I come and they love it. Guest guest
That is adorable, I may have to try that for Bean. Of course the boys will want cars or something next. Thanks for sharing, Jenn
