Guest guest
The thing about the immersion blenders got me to thinking. I used to think rice cookers were just the most ridiculous yuppie ish gadget ever. Then a friend gave me one and I was converted. When my first zoji went out a dear, darling absolutely lovely lady here on Veg list sent me one. I use it daily. It's nice to toss in rice, a little water and a bit of salt, shut the lid, set the timer and ignore it. The rice comes out perfectly and a lot of time I will throw some broccoli, peppers, onions or whatever veggie I have on hand on top of the rice. I do sticky rice, jasmine rice, basmanti rice, long grain rice, wild rice mix, and whatever rice. I've even cooked pearl barley with onions and mushrooms in it. But the two things I absolutely, positively cannot live without in my kitchen are my coffee grinder and Cuisinart no pot coffee maker.
