Guest guest
Sorry about such a stupid question, but I haven't got any answer from googling and asking people... I'm invited to play bowling tomorrow, for the first time in my life and I'm very worried about the bowling shoes which I have to borrow at the club. Is there a chance there will be a non-leather pair and will I be able to distinguish it somehow? Can I possibly bring some kind of running shoes with me? My non-vegan friends don't understand my problems and my vegan friends have no bowling experience. I don't know what to do... Lena
Guest guest
most bowling shoes are definately not vegan and, AFAIK, you can not wear anything but bowling shoes on the lanes. there is a company, Dexter, which makes synthetic bowling shoes, but, i have no idea if this place would have em any bowling shoes should have the materials in em, stamped generally in the sole being_vegan Sep 20, 2007 10:39 AM bowling shoes Sorry about such a stupid question, but I haven't got any answer fromgoogling and asking people...I'm invited to play bowling tomorrow, for the first time in my lifeand I'm very worried about the bowling shoes which I have to borrow atthe club.Is there a chance there will be a non-leather pair and will I be ableto distinguish it somehow? Can I possibly bring some kind of running shoes with me?My non-vegan friends don't understand my problems and my vegan friendshave no bowling experience.I don't know what to do...Lena I never thought about the universe, it made me feel small Never thought about the problems of this planet at all Global warming, radio-active sites Imperialistic wrongs and animal rights! Guest guest
If you're going to bowl regularly you can purchase your own and take them, but you *have* to wear bowling shoes. And I do not believe that they generally have Vegan shoes. This is one of those things that makes being Vegan hard. We have things that are often beyond our control that we have to deal with. We have situations such as public restrooms or visiting friends/relatives and washing hands with soap, medications, driving vehicles because of the tires, etc. It's truly impossible to be 100% vegan. I've only been bowling once since I've been vegan, with another vegan and while it was an icky thought, we knew we had no other choice if we wanted to do it. Guest guest
No way to avoid this, you have to wear bowling shoes and they will definately be leather. You have two options ; bowl or dont bowl. I take my kids rarely, but when I do I grin and bear it, otherwise they would suffer for my beliefs, and I couldnt have that. The Valley Vegan........... Guest guest
I am glad someone bought up the subject of bowling because frankly I didn't think of that until now. I gave away all my leather shoes and jackets, etc. but I suppose if I want to go bowling and cannot sneak my non-leather sneakers onto the alley, that I will also have to use their shoes. Like you said, it is impossible to really be truly 100% vegan in this world, especially if we still drive cars that use tires, etc. However, we are still environmentally more aware than the rest of the world and do the best that we can to make this world a better place!!! Thanks to all.
