Guest guest
A teacher at Fox River Grove Middle School who was fired after officials complained that he had turned his art classes into lectures on veganism filed an appeal Wednesday with the Illinois State Board of Education.Dave Warwak, 44, of Williams Bay, Wis., asked the state board to appoint a hearing officer to review his termination. He had said he would not return to the classroom unless the school served only lunches free of animal products.District 3 school board members voted Sept. 24 to fire him. The board said Warwak told pupils not to tell their parents, teachers or the school's principal what he was teaching and that he refused to answer questions from school officials. In his letter Wednesday seeking the hearing, Warwak said he was "educating students about the power of advertising in the visual arts. Specifically, how the meat and dairy industry uses its influence to shape and guide the values and morals of society." Peter H For ideas on reducing your carbon footprint visit For Good this month.
